Look beyond the rental price
Ask about maintenance, fuel or charging, equipment and usage terms as well as the monthly rental. Using your own vehicle is not cost-free: maintenance and wear still need a budget. The goal is to reveal overlooked expenses, not to predict earnings.
Questions for a rental discussion
Is there a deposit? Who pays for maintenance? Is a replacement available after a breakdown? What are the handover, return, contract length and cancellation terms? Get answers and read the terms before paying. A vehicle category shown on a website does not prove current availability.
Consider daily use
Bicycles, e-bikes and scooters have different practical needs. Consider safe parking, charging access, a phone mount and weather-appropriate equipment. Verify documents, insurance and usage rules with the relevant authoritative sources; this page is not a legal compliance checklist.
Build a simple expense sheet
Separate fixed monthly costs from usage-based expenses. Do not enter zero for unknown amounts; mark them as awaiting confirmation. Compare payment timing with when expenses fall due. Calculating take-home earnings without current quotations can be misleading.
